From nutcrackers in the German Sieben Salthaus to little nature animals in the Dr. Okerholm Loghaus, to farm & ranch decor in the NK Harper Barnhouse, proportionate Christmas trees stand proudly in each house, and garlands abound for that Christmas nostalgia!

Steeped in history, Fredericksburg is an incredible place to visit museums and learn about the heritage, survival, and development of early Texas settlers. Our guest houses have a history of their own. Dr. Okerholm, N.K. Harper, and their legacies are shared in our guest houses. We utilize the houses as a segue to keep their memory and their impact on the world alive. We are simply the storytellers.
FIRESIDE
Long talks by the fire are one of the best ways to take in the Hill Country, unwind, and reconnect. All of the guest houses have beautiful views and a comfy patio in which to lounge fireside, tell tall tales, and make plans to change the world for the better.

As an avid writer and creator, I have immensely enjoyed sharing the history and thought behind Legacy Ranch. "Everything truly happens for a reason...the key is to find the beauty in all of it" is one of my many mantras. That job is very, very easy at Legacy Ranch. Inspiration abounds, and the beauty and challenge of the changing seasons help fuel my creativity.
The frequent affirmations found at Legacy Ranch since 2018 have shown my partner Erik and I, that we are right where we belong. Just be sure not to interrupt us during morning coffee...that's when the ranch is whispering creative (and often expensive) instructions to us.
BREAKFAST
& MEALS
Because we aren't staffed, each house has a great kitchen area with a full-sized, fully-functioning kitchen for your convenience. Additionally, each house is stocked with morning coffee essentials (filter-less coffee pot, coffee & decaf, sugar, creamer), as well as all the cookware and utensils you need to prepare breakfast and meals. If you decide to stock up on food at HEB in town, you're just 12 minutes from the property. We also have excellent recommendations for personal chefs.
WINERY TOURS
While Fredericksburg is known for its peaches, we're also becoming widely known as the "Napa" of the Texas Hill Country. The furthest Fredericksburg winery is just 25 minutes away from Legacy Ranch, allowing you to head there first thing in the morning and work your way back to shop, ending with rest and relaxation back at the ranch.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Golf, tennis, shopping, bird & wildlife watching, live music, museums, and numerous historic places are all within a 20-mile radius of Legacy Ranch.

THE LANDSCAPE
The Texas Hill Country weather can be extreme, so the property is thoughtfully landscaped with drought-tolerant, blooming, and native plants. Come Springtime, a scattering of bluebonnets, abundant verbena, and other wildflowers grace the property!
For those who want to explore the ranch, the perimeter is mowed for a lovely 0.6-mile walk per lap.
RELAX & UNWIND
We require a 2-night stay minimum because we know you'll need it! You simply can't see it all in one day, and even experiencing everything in a weekend is an impossible stretch. However, our houses are so relaxing to come "home" to after enjoying your new playground, we know we'll see you again soon. You'll remember how relaxed you felt sitting by the fire with a glass of wine last time, and waking up to a beautiful Texas sunrise on your porch, coffee in hand while watching the deer stroll by will surely beckon you to return.

From Fort Martin Scott to the LBJ Ranch, The Nimitz Museum to the Pioneer Museum or Historic Schools tour, Fredericksburg's National Historic District to The National Museum of the Pacific War...we even have Luckenbach! History abounds here!

We understand that escaping to the Hill Country may mean you want to disconnect while connecting with family and friends. You've found the perfect place! At Legacy Ranch, we have GREAT Wi-Fi, but it's up to you if you want to share the log-in! For company retreats, there's enough Wi-Fi to go around. However, we won't apologize if the Hill Country distracts you from your meeting; its beauty is simply irresistible.
